Eurorelief is currently on the ground in Türkiye. The needs are immense.

Assistance with food, water & shelter is needed urgently.

After an intense week on the ground and looking at different opportunities, the Eurorelief scouting team has concluded its assessment and the first service team is on the ground.

We are working in and around Antakya, in collaboration with a local aid organisation.

We are continuing to assess what our mid- and long-term focus should be.

“No aid organisation has been here until you showed up!”, is what our scouting team heard in a town close to the Syrian border. A week after the earthquake the team came across this group of 500 displaced persons, many children among them, who were sleeping on an open field, with just a few tents among them, and had not received any help. Fortunately, we could organise at least a few tents for them. There are many situations like this.

“It does not matter where you are and whom you meet—people will first smile at you and politely ask where you come from. If they have a home still—or even just a stove or a fire, and a cup—they will invite you for tea. But the moment the earthquake gets mentioned, they will just start crying. Every single person we met has their story to share. Everyone is grieving.”

We are continuing to look into ways we can support groups of people in the outskirts of the big city—particularly communities who haven’t received much assistance yet. The needs change every day and our team on the ground is staying flexible to meet those needs.

Having the financial means and connections to address various—and varying—needs on the ground immediately is critical in a disaster setting like this. We are immensely grateful for all donations that are already making a difference on the ground.
