Be a Hero & Champion by Growing Your Impact

We would like to celebrate a special kind of giver this season. They are our hero. They give from their earnings but also encourage others to give by organizing a fundraiser with their friends. Some are volunteers, parents of volunteers, or individuals and organizations with a heart for multiplying their impact. One volunteer chose to give the profit from a for-profit website he runs. Others asked their church to take a special offering towards a particular need. One business owner brought the leaders from his company to see the work and get them excited about giving to Eurorelief. A young Greek pianist played for a dinner party where guests donated over 500 British pounds to Eurorelief. One couple recently requested donations towards our work instead of receiving presents for their wedding anniversary celebration. Our supporters are discovering many creative ways to raise money to support the work of Eurorelief. What could you do? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Ten Fundraiser Ideas to Have Fun & Experience the Joy of Giving

  • Organize a 5K Run (walk or bike) —Plan a route in your neighbourhood and invite friends, family, and neighbours to sign up for a fee to participate in a Fall or Christmas season run. Running is a great way to get outside in the cool air, meet new people, and raise money to help bring joy to the residents of a refugee camp here in Greece.

  • Sell barbecued chicken or other delicious prepackaged meals during the weekend. Coordinate with your local barbeque supplier to grill up chicken or other meats to sell and help support projects like education or new arrivals.

  • Host a bake sale at a community event or outside your local supermarket and sell baked goods.

  • Organize a music, play, or other event and sell tickets to attend or accept donations. The profits and donations would support a ministry focus at Eurorelief.

  • Set up a fundraiser site or account and ask your friends and family to contribute towards your fundraising goal.

  • Invite your friends and family to help make Christmas decorations or ornaments and sell them during the holidays.

  • Tell your pastor or ministry leader about Eurorelief and your interest in supporting a project. Ask if a special offering could be taken.

  • Organize an event where you share or invite Eurorelief volunteers in your area to share photos and stories about volunteering with Eurorelief. Ask local businesses to sponsor different activities or aspects of your event.

  • Organize a sponsorship event. Ask folks to commit to doing a certain activity like reading, walking, exercising, or whatever their New Year's resolution is for a set number of days. Ask them to get people to sponsor them per page, kilometre, or day to raise money for the Eurorelief general fund.

  • Call on local businesses and pre-sell gift or fruit baskets they can give customers or vendors during the holiday season. Order the supplies and invite your friends to help you assemble and deliver them. The profits could be used to support a Eurorelief project.

Use your imagination. Working together with family and friends or folks from your church or club during the holiday season is a great way to spend time together, build skills and bless those suffering in return. You may discover a new hobby or business idea that will grow into an income stream.

Be sure to check local regulations before tackling any of the above ideas.
We would love to hear which idea you chose and which project you are raising money to support.
