Be a Hero & Champion by Growing Your Impact

We would like to celebrate a special kind of giver this season. They are our hero. They give from their earnings but also encourage others to give by organizing a fundraiser with their friends. Some are volunteers, parents of volunteers, or individuals and organizations with a heart for multiplying their impact. One volunteer …

September 2024

In August, camp numbers dipped below 800, but then quickly rose to above 1000. We are excited to begin building a small workout gym next to our Skills Area in the coming weeks.

Education has had a radically different format this summer, with the goal being for children to have a full day school schedule, going from class to class, with various classes being taught by different actors–and it has gone very well. We are also supporting a camp-wide scabies intervention right now and this is great news for people suffering ...

August 2024

The camp numbers recently dipped to an all time low: 823 people. We don't believe this will be a permanent reality, but it has been a quiet month. In addition to low overall numbers, camp turnover has been extremely fast, with people staying in camp for a few months, or much less.

This has presented a lot of challenges for all areas, including our Resident Volunteers and Translator programs ...

July 2024

This month, a lot of our Operations team has been working on getting information out about the fundraising program for the Resident Volunteers.

We’ve been working on a schedule of extra activities to do with our resident teams throughout the week, like trash pick-up outside of camp, and we’ve heard kind feedback from it. With extremely high temperatures, and fires in surrounding areas, we’ve been focusing our energy where it’s needed most ...

Camp remains very calm with numbers steadily decreasing. This month, we’ve been meticulously building a space in the New Arrivals Area to make the distribution of first-need items cleaner and more stream-lined. We’ve also said goodbye to an amazing couple ...

May 2024

In the last weeks, we have distributed hygiene kits and pillows to the entire camp population, and now had our first, of hopefully many, regular shipments of gifted shoes. Last summer, we reached out to many shoe distributors to see if they could regularly donate shoes for new arrivals. In the fall, we had interest and now the miracle has come full circle.

This month, we created ...

April 2024

This past month has been very peaceful. The camp numbers are down from over 5000 to just under 3500. We don't yet know if this is the new normal or if numbers will again increase.

Our NFI Warehouse and Distribution team has been very busy. We have been able to do several distributions of items that have been in the warehouse for a while. In the last month, we’ve distributed ...

Crocs for Samos

After a successful fundraising campaign, we provided over 1000 pairs of crocs to adult men. December was a quieter month as we intentionally slowed down and took time to reflect in anticipation of Christmas. However, hospital rides ...

January 2024

We have become one of the very few remaining foreign NGOs in Türkiye. Most of our team has left this month. We have had only one volunteer on the ground for the majority of the month of December. Before the remaining team left, we did however get to visit the beneficiaries of some of the tiny houses we built and ...
