March 2024

There are now 41 RHUs in the Green Zone that have been constructed alongside Movement on the Ground. We’ve had time to fix up and paint in our prepared space for a library, and it will be opening soon.

Camp management has shared how, now expecting the new normal to stay around 5000 people, they will try to build up the infrastructure in camp to prepare for that. We are very thankful to have now distributed heaters, and people feel relatively comfortable in their living spaces, and we even had time to distribute children’s toy boxes our partners had previously sent. With such a never-ending high turnover rate, we’re needing to learn to operate in even more of a transitory context than ever before.

With residents and resident volunteers coming and leaving rapidly, our work never has time to steady before we move through NFI procedures, food procedures, application and job assignment, and then some residents are already leaving. We’ve been forced to adapt programming, such as social care and education, by transitioning coordinator positions to accomplish our highest needs and personnel gaps.
