Lesvos: Miraculous Shoes and Sense of Calm

In the last weeks, we have distributed hygiene kits and pillows to the entire camp population, and now had our first, of hopefully many, regular shipments of gifted shoes. Last summer, we reached out to many shoe distributors to see if they could regularly donate shoes for new arrivals. In the fall, we had interest and now the miracle has come full circle.

This month, we created a beautiful space for resident volunteers, and are currently building a large building for New Arrivals clothing distribution in the New Arrivals Area. We’ve been a part of increasingly calm and structured foodlines, which is the product of a calm camp, as well as a year of hard work, diligence and creativity by our teams.

We also have wonderful new leaders and coordinators stepping into new roles, adding to the growth and development of the NFI (Non-Food Items), warehouse, distro and acquisitions team. As the turnover of residents is great, due to people receiving passports, we are praying for readiness for when it is less calm, and for the ability to navigate the fast turnover.
